BADATOR: Search system

Expert search.

The consulting strategy is organised in four consecutive steps, or screens.

1st Screen: Search Divided into three parts, this screen allows you to add three additional types of search data.

  1. A. upper: here you can choose the Collection you want to consult. Leaving the box blank means all collections will be searched
  2. B. middle: this is for the main search possibilities, which are common to the entire system. search dates can be limited data to be searched is entered; this can be a single word, a name, a place name, a title, etc. the search data can be further narrowed by using the words "yes", "or", "no".
  3. C. ower: this is for using the Badator Indexing and Search Vocabulary. It lets you use controlled terms to carry out your search, and gives you documents which are indexed according to the Thesaurus.
  4. This is only possible, for the time being, in two Collections: The civil processes in the Royal Chancellery of Valladolid, and the Section on Councils in the National Historical Archives.

2nd Screen: results by origin

Badator displays the search results according to origin, that is, classified according to the Archive Collection they came from. Each Archive Collection is searched, showing the number of documents found in each of them.

3rd Screen: list of results

From each Archive Collection there is a brief inventory of references found, in list form and in chronological order. Each reference shows only the date and description. .

4th Screen: Description card

By clicking each number of the results list you will access a description card for the document/file, with the following fields: description notes (if there should be any) volume/pages (in the case of files, and the inventory data, if any) complete catalogue number
